High Oak Surgery - listening to the public conversation

The overwhelming majority of people who shared their views (80%) stated that if the High Oak Surgery remains at Brierley Hill Health and Social Care Centre, it "will not be good." We want these voices to be considered when deciding the future location of High Oak Surgery.

Good location, ease of access, and walking distance were repeatedly mentioned as reasons why High Oak Surgery should be based in Pensnett.

While some people accept that old facilities in Pensnett were not suitable and change was required, most people feel improving the surgery at the more accessible location in Pensnett is better than moving to Brierley Hill.

  • A lack of public transportation between Pensnett and Brierley Hill posed a challenge. A journey of multiple buses and a taxi impacted vulnerable people the most.
  • High Oak Surgery in Pensnett is seen as a valued part of the community, where trusting relationships have been built with GPs and other staff.
  • While some people acknowledged that the old facilities in Pensnett were not suitable and required improvement, they still preferred to have the surgery remain in Pensnett. 

Local people value the convenience and accessibility of having the surgery in Pensnett as well as trusting the established community connection.
